For authors

Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai seria Psychologia-Paedagogia is a journal dedicated to the fields of psychology, educational sciences, special education, and special didactics, and also to adjacent or interdisciplinary fields. It appears twice a year, in June and December, and it is indexed in multiple databases such as ERIH+, ProQuest, EBSCO and Fachportal Pädagogik (for a complete list see our Indexing Page. As such it can be a relevant resource for professionals intending to report their research findings.
We look forward to receiving experimental studies, exploratory studies, theoretical papers, methodological papers or case studies, with the following deadlines: April 1st for the June issue, and October 1st for the December issue. The manuscripts are subjected to blind peer review, and the authors receive a decision in approximately three weeks. Each paper is reviewed by two reviewers, and the decision is made by the editor based on the reviews and his/her own evaluation. You can find below the instructions for authors.

Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Psychologia-Paedagogia is an Open Access Journal since July 2021.

As an Open Access Journal, Studia UBB Psychol.-Paed. does not charge readers or their institutions for access. The journal allow readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and allow readers to use them for any other lawful purpose.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
The mission of Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai, the official publication of the “Babeş-Bolyai” University, is to publish new scientific contributions in all the fields of sciences.
Manuscripts cannot have been previously published or be currently submitted elsewhere for publication while in review for Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai, although manuscripts may have been deposited on a preprint server. Manuscripts that are derived from papers presented at conferences can be submitted unless they have been published as part of the conference proceedings in a peer-reviewed journal.
Authors are required to ensure that no material submitted as part of a manuscript infringes existing copyrights, or the rights of a third party.
Manuscripts must be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript, and should not be submitted by anyone on their behalf. The submitting author takes full responsibility for the article during submission and peer review. Submission of a manuscript to Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai implies that all authors have read and agreed to its
content.

The average time for the preliminary assessment of manuscripts – 3 days. The average time for the review of manuscripts – 30 days. The average time for the publishing of accepted articles – 90 days.


Peer-Review Process
The peer-review process is designed to ensure that Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai publishes outstanding scholarship. One of the Editors will assign the manuscript to a member of the editorial board, who will review the paper, collect reviews from four outsider reviewers, and make a recommendation to the manuscript’s managing Editor with respect to four possible outcomes:

1) accepted without revision;

2) accepted after revision without further external review;

3) neither accepted nor rejected until author(s) make revisions and resubmit;

4) rejected.

The Editor managing the manuscript will also send the manuscript to a second member of the editorial board for an independent review. The manuscript’s managing Editor will make the decision on outcome and notify the author. The ultimate responsibility for all decisions lies with the Editors, to whom any appeals against rejection should be addressed.

“Transfer of copyright agreement”
When the article is accepted for publication, I, as the author and representative of the coauthors, hereby agree to transfer to Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Series all rights, including those pertaining to electronic forms and transmissions, under existing copyright laws, except for the following, which the author specifically retain:
the right to make further copies of all or part of the published article for my use in classroom teaching; the right to reuse all or part of this material in a review or in a textbook of which I am the author; the right to make copies of the published work for internal distribution within the institution that employs me.
Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
Style Guide Summary and keywords must be in English and German. Authors for whom English / German is not a native language must have their manuscripts reviewed by a colleague who is fluent in English / German before submitting their manuscripts.


The Title should be informative but not longer than 15 words. Please supply a short title of up to 70 characters.
Name of the author(s). Give the full author(s) name(s). Full addresses should be keyed to the author’s names using numbers in superscript. In case of more than one author, please indicate the email, telephone, and fax of the author to whom the correspondence should be addressed.
Abstract & Keywords. The abstract (not exceeding 250 words) must be written in English and German, outlining concisely the main findings and major conclusions of the paper. Literature citations and figure references should not appear in the abstract. Include up to 8 keywords (in English and German) beneath the abstract for indexing
purpose.
Text. Manuscripts should be typed (single spacing) on A4 paper (21 x 29.7 cm) leaving a margin of 4.5 cm all around. Authors should use IUGS terminology and metric units. All pages should be numbered consecutively and illustrations and tables must be printed incorporated into the text.
References. All references cited in the text should be given in the reference list and vice versa. The reference list should be arranged alphabetically and chronologically, with the authors always listed with their last (family) name first. Journal and book titles must be spelled out in full or abbreviated and cited in the text. Include diacritical marks (accents, umlauts etc) in all titles and names. For books and articles with a non English titles, please translate them into English and mention in parentheses at the end of the reference the original language (This is not necessary for Spanish, German, Italian or French titles).
Illustrations. Photographs, artwork and drafting are expected to be submitted in JPG, PSD, EPS or TIF format, with a preferred resolution of 300 dpi. The artwork must be sized to the text width of 6.5 cm (single column) or 13 cm (double column). Make sure each artwork has a scale bar or specifically mention the scale in the caption. The numbering of the illustrations (e.g., Fig. 3) or (Pl. II, Fig. 1 or Figs. 3-5) must correspond to their order of appearance in the text.

Review Process
The manuscript submission and peer-review process consists of the following steps:
The Author submits a manuscript.
One of the Editors assigns a member of the editorial board to manage the peer review and assigns a second member of the editorial board to provide an independent review.
The first member of the editorial board assigns the manuscript to at least two reviewers.
The Reviewers review the manuscript.
The first member of the editorial board collects the peer reviews and drafts a recommendation to the Editor. The second member of the editorial board provides the independent review to the Editor.
The Editor reviews the two sets of reviews and drafts a decision that is sent to the Author.

The journal is classified by the Romanian National Council of Scientific Research of Higher Education (CNCSIS) in the B+ Category.

Articles that do not follow the format will be automatically rejected.
Previously published articles are not accepted for publication. Manuscripts cannot be submitted elsewhere for publication while in review for Studia UBB Psychol.-Paed., although manuscripts may be deposited on a preprint server. Manuscripts that are derived from papers read at conferences cannot be submitted unless they have been previously published as part of the conference proceedings in a peer-reviewed volume.
The editors’ committee would reject those papers which do not reach the quality level required for an academic journal. The authors will be announced on the acceptance or rejection if their papers and about the suggestions made by the reviewers. The report term of an article, starting with the moment of delivery to reviewers is of roughly two weeks. All papers are reviewed independently at least by two referees, but the authors are entirely responsible for the content of their papers. All published papers will become property of the journal.

Issues, Deadlines:
The journal is published twice a year, in June and December.

The paper submission for the Studia UBB Psychol.-Paed.volumes are programmed as follow:

– For the first number the deadline for the receiving of the studies is 1th of April;
– For the second number we accept the studies up to 1th of October.

PEER REVIEW

The content of the journal is always reviewed by two prestigious persons from outside and inside Babes-Bolyai University, who have to fill up a review standard form. Their suggestions are sent to the author, for further changes. The reviewers are not aware of the authors’ names, as well as the authors don’t have the information regarding reviewers’ names ( double blind review system).
